Brief History
IISY
was founded in 1967 with the name of "Sekolah Indonesia
Duta
Teruna", as a diplomatic school for the purpose of children
from under Indonesian Embassy and Indonesian people living
in Myanmar. Seeing the school having a very strategic
position to
be an agent of culture and diplomacy, starting
the academic year of
2004/2005,
IISY extends to local people
and other nationalities with Indonesian Plus curriculum.
Indeed,
the global community need to prepare for young
learners by changing environment of the world community.
For
two and half years school staff and Embassy had worked hard
to build new buildings and provide the school with some
laboratories and library. Besides that, comparative study to
some international schools and adjusts its curriculum to
meet the market demand are also done. It was followed by
recruiting new staff and upgrading them. This positive
effort attracts the local people come to study in IISY. We
will provide a quality academic schedule to prepare our
students, learning opportunities for international education
in IISY.
Indonesian
International School Yangon (IISY) was founded in 1966 as a
diplomatic school with the name of “Sekolah Indonesia Duta
Teruna.” The school was established for the purpose of
providing primary and secondary education for the children
of Indonesian Embassy diplomats and for the children of
Indonesian families living in Myanmar. This school was
legalized by the Department of Education and Culture of
Indonesia on 1st June 1968 (No.054/1969). Beginning in the
academic year of 2004/2005, IISY became an international
school. It opened its doors to the local Myanmar people and
other nationalities and it began to offer an internationally
accepted curriculum.
Since
1966 this school has been managed and led by 10 principals
who were sent by the Department of Education, the Republic
of Indonesia. The management of this school is directed and
monitored by a steering council under the Embassy of the
Republic Indonesia in Yangon. The ten principals are as
follows:
